Area of the upper tangent arc in original and with unsharp mask.
The “upper tangent arc” is composed of three different halos: Parry arc, circumscribed halo and 22°-halo. As Parry arc an circumscribed halo almost completely coincide at this sun elevation, they form a bright segment together which lies upon the 22°-halo. The Parry arc can only be recognized by a small branch splitting off from the circumscribed halo on the upper left part.

Circumscribed halo with a small onset of Parry arc, touching the left sundog. Also a very faint 22°-halo is visible.

Parhelic circle with anthelion and Wegener´s anthelic arcs. The picture processed by an unsharp mask looks as if the Wegener´s anthelic arc on the left side of the anthelion also appears in the cirrus cloud structures.
Simulation of the halo display of July 8, 2007 for a supposed sun elevation of 41.5°. All halos visible in the display and their positions are marked. The picture has been generated using Halo-Sim, which was created by Michael Schroeder and Les Cowley.
